Is My Child Ready for Team Sports?

March 15, 2018

As a mom of two young boys, ages 2 and 4, I am constantly asking myself, "When is a good time to get them into Youth Sports?" I know I want them to experience a team atmosphere, but where do I start? What do I do? How much is this going to cost, and after the costs, how long will my child continue before we pick up yet another SUPER expensive sport?

I then realized I have a Baton Twirling group, and parents are undoubtedly asking these same questions. Enter the brilliant idea - Mommy and 'Bee' classes. Simple, uncomplicated classes where you not only show up as you are, YOU get to participate in the program as well. We provide the "batons" (I use quotes because they are actually very light plastic sticks because sometimes children and metal objects don't go over so well...), we provide the space, and all you have to do is show up and get to know other parents in the area. You won't have to worry about your child being too young to participate in a sport because you get to share the experience with your child, and our aim is to introduce you and your child to the world of Youth Sports!

You'll notice I included children with Special Needs are also welcome to join this class. My oldest son has a speech delay and some other developmental delays, and I am scared to death to put him into a sport where I cannot communicate with, and possibly for, him. He is easily overwhelmed, and I know a program like this will be helpful to introduce him to the world of Team Sports. My hope is to create a unique learning environment for all children and those with Special Needs to learn dancing, twirling, and how to connect with others as part of a team.

Please leave any questions, comments, or class suggestions below! This is definitely a new concept for us, but we know it will be so much fun to do!
